Due to the continued government restrictions that are still in place on large gatherings (over 500 people) due to the global pandemic Covid-19, the Alter Egos Team has had to make the frustrating decision to further delay Medieval Faye: There and Back Again.
Circumstances are beyond our control and despite life slowly returning to normal, we cannot continue with this event in good conscience until we have received government approval.
Whilst the decision is heartbreaking for us due to the breaking of tradition, months of hard work and the finances that have already been poured into the preparations, the implications are simply too much for Alter Egos to risk.
Even more important than the financial and legal implications; the health and safety of our guests, vendors and performers are of paramount importance to us.
For the last 8 years, Alter Egos has bought patrons in Johannesburg a magical Medieval day out.
In order to continue to bring you a Medieval Fayre to the same standard as previous years, the are massive costs involved which we are simply unable to risk in this current climate.
Whilst patience is a virtue (we believe that hurry up should be a virtue) , we understand the disappointment and frustrations of all our Alter Egos family who have been looking so forward to this event. Do not despair, we are nothing if not persistent and this event WILL go ahead as soon as we are able to do so safely and legally.
We appreciate the understanding and ongoing support of all our loyal followers.
Medieval Fayre: There & Back Again will now be held at La Vue Guest Lodge on Saturday, 4th of June 2022.
Our usual annual ticket increase will be applied in 2022. However, in good faith, all tickets that have been purchased to date will be honoured for the event next year at the original purchase price and all accommodation bookings will be honoured as well.
Tickets will remain on sale at this year’s prices until 25 December 2021.
We plead with the community to understand how disappointing this is for our team that has worked so hard to bring this magical event to life, as we have done for the past 8 years.
Circumstances are unprecedented and beyond our control.
Hopefully by this time next year, we will all have had our shots thus avoiding further plague-driven delays and we can gather in the Shire to have a Hobbit style festival, safely and without concern.
